Complaint / Review
First Union Credit
Ripoff

I have had a very similar experience. I went through countless phone calls in an attempt to finally get answers as to where my card was, and when I could expect to receive it. Everytime I called I was given a random excuse as to what had happened. I was relentless, and soon was calling every single day.

The same thing kept happening, eventually I was fed up with the petty excuses. Finally one day I called and after a rather lengthy time of being put on hold, I was finally put through to someone. I was given yet another sorry excuse, and that was my breaking point, they had finally pushed me far enough. I told the person on the phone that I wanted my money back. I argued with them for a while and finally the man on the other end told me quite blatantly and in a very rude and hostile tone that I "would never see that money again". At that point I said "well, we'll just see about that".

I simply called my bank, told them the situation. They asked that I come in to fill out a formal report. I did so, and 48 hrs later I got a call from my bank informing me that they had indeed got my money back. About an hour later the money was back in my account. Since the original transaction had been an ACH debit, the company could possibly gain future access to my account.in order to prevent this, I simply filled out a form from my bank that disabled their company form any further transactions. About 2 days later, a person from First Union Credit called my home telling me that they figured out why I had never received my card.

Obviously, the woman on the phone had no idea that I actually knew the real reason, or that I had got my money back. I was just waiting to hear her excuse this time, so I patiently waited while she gave me her version of the story. She told me the reason I had not received the card was because something had gone wrong during the ACH debit process, and that they had never received their money. She wanted to verify my account inofrmation and try the debit again. Thats when I "lowered the boom" and told her that I was onto her game. I told her i had already filed a report with my bank, got my money back and I also knew she was trying to pull a fast one and get authorization for the debit again. She hung up on me at that point.

Needless to say, i haven't heard a thing form them since. The day after the hang up, I called my bank to see if there was a transaction that tried to be put through, and sure enough, they had tried it again, but had been rejected. This company is very sneaky and will take advantage of anyone, so please beware!
