Avoid Bank of America! - branch personnel

My husband and I went into Bank of America yesterday to deposit our tax check into my husband's checking account. For whatever reason, our tax person put my maiden name on the check. I explained to the teller that the reason the name on my license was different than the name on the check, was because my maiden name was put on the check. I showed her a BoA ATM card from an account that I had closed, with my first name, my maiden name as the middle name, and my married name as the last name, for identification. She had to check with the manager to know if the ID was adequate. She came back and said I had to bring in my marriage license. She said that since I had said that the reason the name on my license was different than the check was because it was my maiden name on it, I had to have a paper with both names on it to prove that my name was changed from my maiden name to my husband's last name. Why that mattered when I had ID with both names on it is beyond me! So I went home to get the license but could not find it. However, I did find an old bill with my maiden name on it, my certificate of baptism with my maiden name on it and my birthday, and one of my daughter's birth certificates with my married and my maiden name on it. I showed these to a different teller when I came back. While I was talking to her, the previous teller rudely jumped in and said whatever I had was not going to work and that I had to have something with both my married and my maiden name on it. So I again showed her the birth certificate with both names on it. The teller I was supposed to be talking to, nicely said that she understood, but would still have to ask her manager. The manager had stepped out shortly, so we sat and waited for him to come back. When he came back we explained what was going on and showed him all four of my identifications. He said I had to have my marriage licence because they have to have a document for their records with both my married and maiden name on it. Again, I showed him the birth certificate with both names on it. Then his story changed. He tells me it has to be a marriage license because I have to prove that when I got married, my name changed to the name I was claiming was my maiden name, to the same name of the person who I am claiming to be my husband. So now it is clear that this is not a matter of showing identification to deposit a check, it is an inquiry on weather or not we are lying about being married. He asked us how long we had been married. Then asked if we were really married as long as we said we were, then why would the tax people put my maiden name on the check. Why they put my maiden name on the check or weather or not I am married is completely irrelevant! My name is on the check, my husband's name is on the check and we both have ID that matches the names on the check! He said they needed the marriage license for security purposes. BoA wasn't worried about security after money was wrongfully taken out of our account, there was an investigation (done by BoA) that proved it was wrongfully taken out, BoA was told that we do not give that company our authorization to take money out of our account again, and BoA let them do it again anyway! Here is what it boils down to. My husband HAD an account with BoA. We wanted to deposit a check. We both provided the identification that was said to be required.instead of being treated like customers, we were treated like con artists who were lying about being married! When we left, the manager cheerfully said, "have a nice day, " as if that would excuse his unprofessional, accusatory behavior! This story is nothing compared to the long list of times BoA has been nothing but a big problem in our lives! My husband closed his account yesterday. Thankfully we will never have to deal with Bank of America's nonsense again!
