I went looking for the free credit report all consumers are supposed to be able to get once a year. I recognized the Experian name, so I entered their site. It was after seeing the heading "FREE CREDIT REPORT" that I saw that it would actually cost me $1. OK, that was fine. Even though it said "free" I didn't mind paying for the electronic ZAP time. I accepted the terms and conditions, which looked pretty standard. But they aren't. Somewhere in there they (say) they tell you that you are really signing up for a service which will cost you $19.95 per month. I'm sure I declined any such offer if it were made overtly. Still, I was billed for a month. When I got my credit card statement, Experian claimed it was too late to refund as a month had gone by. Maybe they are trying to prove their point that someone needs to monitor the bad guys. I just didn't expect the bad guys to be THEM!!
