On February 1999, I was offered an unsecured credit card from First National Bank of Marin offering a $300.00 credit line. After I sent in $49.00 processing fees, I recieved the credit card.
I recieved 2 months later a bill stating I $350.00; I called up the company and asked and they said there were additional charges added for annual charges. I told them I did not want the credit card and close the account I was told tnat these charges still remained and that I could not close the account.
I never recieved a statement again so I assumed the account was closed. Believe me when I tell you I never used the card once. I got rid of the card immidietly after hanging up. 4 Years later I receive a letter from a collection agency stating that the represent this bank and that I owe them $1,414.00. And that a payment plan was available but interest will be still building up. I was in shock because after hanging up the phone I didn't even know this bank until later. How could I pay this bank $1,400.00 for services I never even used.
This company is a classic rip-off and I'm going to make sure they pay.
