Let us first start by indicating that we have excellent credit and have never had a late payment on our mortgage. We currently have a mortgage with Chase Mortgage in which they also escrow our taxes.in May we received a delinquency notice from our township indicating that our taxes were past due and that a late payment penalty of $35.25 was also required. We immediately contacted Chase Mortgage by phone and they said they would take care of the late payment.
In June we received notice of our payments to date from Chase and noticed we were charged S41.41 for Town/Co Taxes. We thought this was odd so we called Chase to question it and found these charges were the late payment fees that were past on to the home owner.
Chase informed us that it was their policy to pass these fees on to the homeowner if they have not received a bill and it was not their responsibility to question the Township. We found this to be irresponsible since they already informed us it would be taken care of and also misleading since it shows up as a tax not a late fee on their statements to us. We also found it to be irresponsible since they did not communicate any of these issues with us.
This was not the first time this has happened. We plan on refinancing to rid ourselves with Chase and find a reputable mortgage loaner.
We also found Chase to try to mislead us numerous times in our refinance application also. We had to cancel the settlement after they charged us over $3000 in false charges. We should have stopped right in the beginning but it was convenient since we already had a Chase Mortgage.
Please help us expose this irresponsible misleading mortgage loaner that takes advantage of honest hard working families.
