After being a loyal American Express pay-the-balance-on-time customer, when experiencing economically necessary minimum payments, American Express began charging interest on my credit card balances. As soon as I was able to totally pay off the balance, advising them to close my account, American Express suddenly was not able to record my last payment! Indeed the check still has not been cashed.
So, American Express, with suddenly no record of receipt of a check for $26.70, added $4.17 to that amount and added a $15.00 late fee! You won't believe this: somehow, they came up with another 24 cents owed. Meaning, two months after I have closed that account American Express is sending this billing for $46.11!
My only choice is to pay the $46.11, since they could put that on my credit report, and what could I do about it? Any help?
