Back in the fall of I gathered all my bills and paid them off. This included credit card balances with my Spiegel card being one of them. So I pay them off and I have not received any more bills/correspondence from them since. Fast forward to the fall of 2003 when my credit is checked by a mortgage company. They tell me I must pay off $57 to First Consumers National before I close on my new house.
I have called their number which comes on the credit report and it is out of service. I call directory and they give me a 503- number, which is constantly busy when I try to reach them. I just want to know if this is a valid debt or not, I need to pay it off but I'm not finding any avenues to pay it off. Now that I'm researching this company, I'm finding numerous horror stories.
