After FCNB canceled my credit card a year ago (sending a letter saying they are getting out of the cc business) they failed to post my payments for a couple of months. Then they applied retroactive late fees (beginning at day one) which bumped my account into "overlimit" status, and applied additional fees of $35 for being overlimit each month. (HOW can I even have a credit limit - my card has been cancelled!!!)
Although I calculate carefully each month how much to pay so even with the interest charges I won't be overlimit, they still continue to post my payments late (tho mailed early every month) and apply overlimit fees. And usually the only thing that makes my account overlimit is the overlimit fee!!! Example: My credit limit is $600. This month's overlimit fee was $35, bringing my total balance due to $633. If no overlimit fee had been applied, no overlimit fee would have been owed!!!
According to my calculations, my account should be paid off, not "overlimit"!!!
As to their phone number, I get a recording saying it's been disconnected. Letters to the company go unanswered. I'm fed up. This is illegal, and I'm not the only one they're ripping off! Do we let them get away with it? My only question is, WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT??? Help!
