To make a long story short, Ed Miller (of NLR's Southfield, MI location) was quick to cash my check last July when we met at his office, and also told me NOT to make another payment on the HELOC loan I was hoping to get modified. When I reminded him that my primary ARM was up in November, he all but assured me the loan would be settled by then. A “lock”, as he put it, because of their excellent working relationship with GMAC. Well, here we are 8 months later and I'm still waiting for results – ANY results - except to say that my credit is now damaged thanks to Mr. Miller's recommendation. I think he should explain to my kids why Dad can't co-sign for that car or home for them.
Although Ed eventually does return my phone calls, he claims he cannot make the process move any faster and, that I should contact their office in West Palm Beach, FL and deal with the loan mitigator directly. When I last spoke to Ed, he told me that he had forwarded all my information onto the general manager of the office, Charlie Stevens, and that Mr. Stevens would call me with an update after he had spoken with the person working on my case.
That was on January 10. I'm still waiting for that call.
It's hard to say I'm “fighting” with NLR, because it takes two to fight, and I can't get anyone down there to return my calls or respond to emails since I last spoke with a Michael Eisenberg in October.
I have no idea where my case stands. They could be 5 minutes away from finalizing a remodification of this loan or 5 years. I just don't know. Now, I am receiving foreclosure letters from GMAC.
I'm hoping that others can learn from this experience and STEER CLEAR of NLR!!
