Sued Without Service: $3,000 Loan Became $8,000 Judgment

I took out a loan for $3,000.00, had to go out on disability, and tried to negotiate payments to no avail.

I found out by accident that they sued me without my being served for over $8,000.00 and got a final judgment!

How does a loan go from $3,000.00 to $8,000.00?
