Well, I've been reading all of the letters in here and I wonder how many families Ocwen has broken up. The stories I read are a mirror image of what we have been going through. We also are under the thumb of the almighty financial institution known as Ocwen. We refinanced our house in 1999 and then had our first contact with Ocwen because the company that was servicing the mortgage (Amresco, also thieves) went out of business and sold or (gave?) our mortage to Ocwen.
We had good credit and all of a sudden or payments are late, out taxes were not getting paid and our insurance was canceled for lack of payment. We got letters from Ocwen stating that they where forcing us to buy there insurance, and pay late and attorney fees.
To make a long story short we had to pay a lot of unessary fees and had a hard time paying all our bills because of a job setback, so we had to file bankruptcy just to keep the house. We then tried to refinance to get away from Ocwen, well at this time our credit is bad so we have a hard time doing this but we are able to get help. (Bad Idea) We had to pay a large fee and a high interest but we wanted to get away from the monster Ocwen. At the signing of the papers I told the broker that if the co. Sold this mortgage to not let Ocwen get there hands on it, and wrote that on the front of the papers.
No sooner than on our first payment, wouldn't you know it. Ocwen was the servicer. I just about lost it, the first thing I did was called the broker, she said they never know what co. Buys the loans. I asked her about us talking about not selling to Ocwen and writhing it on the front of the papers we signed. She said that they never look at that stuff and just the interest and penalties.
So you can guess what happened then, we were back on that roller coaster of a ride called Ocwen, (Hold on tight and don't let your hands come out of the ride) the same things happened, they even applied one payment to my closed account and then told me my payment was late again, that was a nightmare getting that fixed.
Never in my life have I been in contact with a co. That flat out does not care about anything but its customers failing. That's right they look for people (through brokers), that are having a hard time in life and tell them they can help. They give you that loan to help when you when you need it the most, then knowing how life treats people when there weak they start causing you money problems all over again.By making your life so bad that any extra money you have is eaten up in fees so you fall farther behind until they can get your house and a couple of thousand extra before your out on your butt.
And because your credit is so bad (Thanks to Ocwen) you have hard times with all other co. You deal with just to service in this world. Always paying more interest (if you can get any credit at all), higher insurance rates, not getting that job (because a lot of co. Are checking credit reports before they hire you), so you wonder why you let yourself get into this trouble.
Your just trying to service, Ocwen has harmed a lot of lives and its time to pay up. I know that the Govt. Is going to have to do something but it won't be much.instead of money, I just want a chance to get the credit I deserve in this life, make them adj. Our credit history to reflect what Ocwen did to us so other co. Can know were not bad people trying to steel there money like Ocwen treated us. You know the lawyers are getting the money, not the people that Ocwen stole from.
