Gammett and King defrauded our family trust out of $100,000 in a bogus apartment fraud scheme represented by Jared Shafer. Mr. Shafer represented himself as a licensed securities broker who had been in the financial planning industry for 30 years. Shafer produced false documents, which showed him to be a certified financial planner who also held a CPA certificate. Based upon these documents and assurances from John Norheim a Las Vegas attorney and family court commissioner we invested. The complex was bankrupt after 14 months. We filed suit and a criminal trial was held in a federal court in Utah. Corruption dominated the trial resulting in the defendants pleading no contest. Gammett and King along with Jared Shafer paid small fines. The amount of money paid by the defendants didnt match the gains they made on the project.in summary Gammet, King, Norheim, and Shafer got off with a light slap on the wrist for committing what would be considered in 49 other states a major fraud against investors.
