In the process of refi with another company, Ameriquest refused to give the new refi company the payoff balance unless we paid them $60.00, the new refi company was able to obtain the payoff balance on the mortgage loan we did with Ameriquest in 2000.
When the payoff check was mailed to Ameriquest, it was returned to our new refi company requesting a $4,000 prepayment penalty plus the prepayment. Teh new refi company rep stated that she has never dealt with people so nasty and ill-tempered. When we searched our Ameriquest mortgage papers for a prepayment penalty, bam! There in little tiny letters, the company may request a prepayment penalty.
Anyone comtemplating doing business with this company, DON'T. Anyone knowing of a class action suit against this company plz post email address on this site, anyone who can help us out of this horrible situation plz do same. Thanks
