Complaint / Review
Ameriquest Mortgage
Ripoff Took more than what was owed, Orange And Irvine

This is one for the record books and I would love to know just how they can get away with this.

On June 24th of 2005 My husband and I signed a refi with another mortgage company and was to pay off Ameriquest the balance owed. On June 28th we received the extra money we took out on the refi and all checks were issued to the bills we were paying off. On July 3rd I received a call from Ameriquest asking us when we were sending in our next payment.??? I informed them that we had closed a refi loan and that all checks had been issued on the 28th. I called my refi company who informed me that Ameriquest had recieved their money and after a careful reveiw our refi notified Ameriquest that they had sent an overpayment of 2800 dollars. I called Ameriquest and they claimed no money was received before the first of July therefore an additional month of payment and interest was due of $889.00. Which left a balance of overpayment of $1910.00. On the 15th of July I received another call from Ameriquest demanding payment. Again I gave the refi info. As well as the tracking number of the delivery. On August 3rd I received a letter from Ameriquest that stated this: Overpayment of $2798 made on account

Late fee assesment on 2 months
2 months (july and aug) principled paid 145
2 months (july and aug) interest paid 1778
process fee of early payoff

Balance left in account at time of close $0.00

Now explain how they can do this if they sent a letter dated on June 20th stating what our payoff was, what the penalty for the earlier payoff was and I knew we were sending extra because we didn't want to wait another 15 days for them to fax over the final report on payoff sign by them. (they forgot to sign the first one. So how in the world do they get away with this??? I didn't complain when Ameriquest charged me 3 times what my refi company did for closing costs, I didn't complain when they charged me 2 times as much for the appraisal as the other company did and I didn't even complain when we were suppose to get $6000 at time of closing and received a check for $214 due to the processing cost. But don't tell me not to complain now this makes no sense. And when I tried to get to the bottum of the problem I got pasted around like a baseball at spring training and the baseballs are probably in better condition at the end of the day than I was.
