Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union
Bad professional practices in fraud prevention/protection and member assistance in recovering funds due to fraud activity!

In there was significant fraudulent activity which compromised my account. I was about to go on maternity leave and I was due to deliver my baby in 2 weeks, when I discovered that almost $6,000 was gone from my Savings account. When attempting to make a transfer, I discovered there were no funds available. The HORROR was overwhelming. Almost $6,000 had been automatically transferred to my checking account to cover charges that were not made by me! I felt so violated. The credit union did not call to to alert me when SO MANY ACH transactions were taking place... Try 13 pages worth of transactions... To confirm whether I was in fact making the purchases.
I went to the local branch that same day and subsequently 3x that week to file the fraudulent activity claim. I complied with all necessary statements and affidavits confirming that I did not make such purchases. With much dismay I was told by the bank's representatives..."it's not up to the credit union to investigate fraudulent charges". Isn't there such a thing as insurance!
Libeerty savings credit union not only transferred funds from my savings account into my checking account (without notifying me) but they also charged me for every transfer that was made!!!
This fraudulent activity happened in a matter of a week. I felt the bank/credit union reps were blaming me for not checking my account on a daily basis! If I have to worry about having to check my account on a daily basis then what is the point of keeping money with a bank/credit union. Do we need to be that paranoid that our money IS NOT SAFE!!! APparently we do if we have an account with LSFCU!"Keep money with us at your own risk" should be their slogan.
Well the credit union's response did not suffice and I decided to pursue this on my own, contacting companies listed on the transactions and consequently finding the person who stole my card. I filed a police report, met with detectives and a few days later, a person was apprehended and charged. However that person still remains at large. The police report was taken to the credit union and detectives and sale reps persons offered to speak with authorities and to the bank. However, again I was told that the credit union does not investigate fraud. The credit representatives did not offer any assistance, gave me the "run around" every time I asked for an executive officer's name/contact information. The only reason why I left my account open was that I at some point thought that I would someday receive credit of the funds taken from my account. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN.in ALMOST 2 YEARS LSFCU HAS NOT EVEN PLACED A FOLLOW UP CALL TO ME RE: THIS CLAIM.
It has been almost 2 years and until now, I have not received any money back, the credit union representatives continue to give me the run around, my calls are not returned, and I am directed back to the same individuals that initially met with me almost 2 years ago.in my most recent attempt to reach someone I spoke to a call center rep. Who said he would pass my request/information to credit union board member (s) and CEO, to whom there is not contact information on nor is it given by credit union employees. I was told I would receive a call back within 1 day... Sure... Yeah Right! This is something I have heard so many times before. I am now filing a law suit against the credit union.
