Raised replacement value of home, billed Mortgage company, now escrow amount raised

Nationwide Insurance raised replacement value almost $185,000 more than last 14 years. They said my home was worth more now. They said it cost more to build my home now. The facts are the opposite. I'm a General Contractor and I do read paper and look at TV.

For those of you who have an escrow account for your mortgage, look at it closely. Nationwide raised my rate $679 in 2009 and $595 in 2010 (total $2291). Mortgage company paid it. When I got my escrow analysis this year, it showed up along with the projected this year. Mortgage company wanted to raise my escrow amount $168 per month.

I tried to work with agent for over 2 weeks, nothing. Cancelled my policy (Home insurance with them for 16 years, cars for over 25 years) on April 29. They already received this years payment too. Today is May 28th and still don't have confirmation that they have refunded monies. Mortgage company wants their money back or pay escrow.

Bottom line - Nationwide sends whatever bill they want to to mortgage company. Morgage company pays. Then you pay. Not right. They said I have control. No. I had to cancel to get something done.insurance Commission needs to know.

Now—Let's talk rates. I priced 4 companies and all of them were LOWER than Nationwide. Substantially!!! I keep hearing they are "on my side". I don't think so.

What to do? Look at your escrow statement. Call other companies... And

Cancel with nationwide insurance... Asap.
