Chase Manhattan Mortgage
Dipped into our bank account without authorization

On Oct. 9 we called in our normal payment of $300. For some reason Chase decided to take an additional $508.20 from our account. We are not behind or late on our payments. We contacted them and talked to a Sylvia James. She assured us we would have our money back in 4 days along with $20 for a check that bounced because they cleaned out my account.

When we did not receive a check in that timeframe, we contacted them again. Of course Sylvia James was nowhere to be found so we ended up talking to a Miss Clark. Miss Clark said that a check had been sent out overnight delivery the day before and she was surprised we didn't have it already. And that we surely would get it the next day.

When the check did not come we contacted Chase again. Amazingly, we were able to reach Miss Clark. She said she had to contact Sylvia James to get a tracking number so we could track the check. Naturally, good ole Sylvia was not at her desk but Miss Clark said she would get hold of her and either she, Miss Clark or Brandy Greene would contact us later that evening or the next morning. After receiving no call, we contacted Chase again.

We talked to a gentleman who told us our check was still being processed. He got hold of Sylvia James (she wouldn't get on the phone and talk to us) and she said she had sent in the paperwork and that's all she could do. And that our check was in process. Not sent overnight like we were told several times. At that point the gentleman on the phone directed us to the main branch.

They were able to get us in contact with the bank manager of Cleveland (or so they claimed) Lisa Sheperd. She said their computers were down and she couldn't get any info at the moment. She said she would call us back when the computers were back up. I told her to please call us back as no one at Chase ever does when they say they will. She said she would call us back TONIGHT (she even stressed the word tonight. Got the impression she was annoyed with me. Imagine that. She's annoyed with me!) Well, of course she did not call back. Our problem is, the money they took was for bills. We cannot pay them now. We will incur late charges. And even though Lisa Sheperd said they would pay those too, she didn't even call us back like she said so I don't put alot of weight into any of her statements.

My husband also lost a days pay because we couldn't use our debit card to get gas. Kept coming up, no funds available. Heck, we couldn't even buy a soda and a pack of cigarettes! At this point we don't know if we're going to get our money back or not. We've been told several different things but always that the refund is approved. Yet, no one seems to be able to let us know when we'll get it. I wish everyone at Chase could be on the same page. Guess they make this stuff up out of thin air. All we want is our money back and any fees that have been incurred because of Chase's mistake.
