I've made the unfortunate mistake of entrusting Washington Mutual to refinance my home mortgage. After sharing my experience, you should be forewarned - go ANYWHERE for your loan needs, but be sure to AVOID Washington Mutual. WM first took my $295 non-refundable credit report on April 03rd then proceeded to ignore and err, in every way to avoid processing my loan until, 148 days later, when interest rates began rising, I finally had to go to another loan company, luckily, in enough time to get a reasonable rate, and they processed my application and closed in 11 days.
In case you're wondering, my wife and I have a credit rating score of almost 800 and our refinance included a 50% LTV; it just doesn't get any better than that for a loan company.in all, WM cost me over $2500 in damages and lost interest savings over the period of 148 days.
They, of course, refuse to acknowledge any responsibility and are betting that losing one customer will be the end of it. I'm here to warn you because you could be next. Don't be conned by the initial call offering you great service - it doesn't exist anywhere in this company from the clerk to the CEO - it's an entire rotten barrel!
Both the CEO AND the President stick their heads in the sand and don't have the courage to respond to their clients' complaints when addressed directly.in case this is not enough for you, do two things - read ALL of the complaints listed herein AND check with Denver's local TV consumer advocate if you think this is an isolated case.
WM doesn't deserve your business and you certainly don't deserve to go through the pain that I did.
In the future I plan to take my business to other banks, and I'll urge everyone to avoid banking with Washington Mutual.
