This was my first credit card ever after graduating high school. They promised low APR and quick repayment options. I started with a $250 credit limit, that steadily rose to $4,800.
Unlike most college kids I paid it on time every month and never put a lot of money on it in the beginning. However, like most college kids, money got tight and I had to use it to keep myself a float. I continued to pay it, only being late two times, until the last year.
I maxed the card out and had been laid-off. I tried to talk to them and they were of no help. I have since stopped using the card at all. Over a year of not using the card and paying every month, even if a few days late. However, the amount on the card has yet to decrease AT ALL. I have been paying over a year now and still have almost $4800 on the card.
I called today because I do not get paid until the week after the due date this month, I wanted to post-date a check ahead of time to avoid the fees. I cannot change when I get paid. I am making an effort. I was told no. Absolutely not. I then asked him why I havent used the card in over a year and yet the amount has not changed and by the next month I end up owing them a daily "over the limit" balance. He told me that was because daily I accrue interest on how much is on the card and it is taken out of the "available balance" every month. So I essentially will never be able to pay the card off until I can pay it all at once.
Once I became upset and began to yell them man told me this was a "professional" call and to keep my voice down and to not use profanity. I was livid to say the least. He then hung up on me. I cannot "close" the account because I cannot pay the entire balance at once, but I cannot get out of debt ever.
The worst credit card company to ever work with.
