Starting back in late October my wife and I applied for the H.A.M.P. I was told by a rep from Wachovia that we qualified for this program according to the info we provided.
So we faxed all the required documents to them that they requested. December comes around and I'm told that I don't have enough income to qualify. So my mother in law offers to help us out and gives us a letter signed by her stating that she is going to help us. At this point they are fine with this.
I get a call in February from a Wells Fargo associate letting me know that she is putting my file together I have no idea why Wachovia would do this. She asked me for documents that she already had but didn't look for before she contacted me. I'm informed by her that I need to call once a week to follow up to see how the process is coming along. So I do just that. At one point durring my call to her she tells me that everything looks good and she is waiting to her from an underwriter.
Later that month I get a call from her and she tells me that the time on my application ran out and the info would have to be resubmitted. So not being happy about this I make a call to Wachovia and I get to talk to a supervisor and during our discussion about my modification she asks me if my mother in law lives with me.
When I reply no, I'm then told that I can't use her contribution as income and that my mother in law has to live with me if I want to use her funds as income. Then I'm told I would need to show proof where the money is going then I would be able to reapply for the modification. So I open up a bank account with my mother in law.
I fax over the deposit slip like I was asked to do. I call to see if Wacovia received the fax. I'm then told that my app was denied due to not being employed. They knew I was unemployed back in October when I first applied for the modification.
I'm also told during this same conversation that because my wife and I are on state assistance that we cant use this as income because it's not guaranteed income and my app was denied back in January. Why they wauted until April to tell me this is beyond me. I am also told they are willing to allow some one with unemployment benefits to be qualified for the H.A.M. P but not some one on well fair.
The reps from Wachovia are telling me that one of the guidelines of the H.A.M. P is you have to be employed. It clearly states on the web site for the H.A.M. P that if you are unemployed or have a reduction in your hours at work you qualify.
Now because Wachovia has taken their time and with all the lies they have told me, my home is going into foreclosure.
