I applied for a free credit report online. Of course they require your bank account information incase you decide to keep the membership, the next thing I new I was receiving alot of emails from USA Platinum and USA Credit saying I had been approved for a 7,500 credit limit.
I did not apply for this and I have no idea how they got my information. Next I received a telephone call asking me to add to my membership for just 19.95 a month. I explianed that I had not subscribed to anything from them. They proceeded to tell me that my one time fee of 79.95 is to be deducted from my checking account on 10-23-03 and they would like me to add on a service of discounted towing, prescriptions ect. For an additional 19.95 a month.
I proceeded to listen to them and took down all thier information all which turned out to be false. I then looked them up on the internet and found this website. I new I had been scammed! I literally feel sick to my stomach over this. You see this happened to my fiancee 2 years ago and boy was it hell! A company had gotten ahold of our bank account and we had no idea. All of a sudden alll these companies we had never heard of were debiting our account for services we had no idea about!
After all was said and done 700.00 was lost with bank fees and unauthorized debits. Thankfully our bank was very helpful and we filed an affidavit for fraud and the bank refunded our money but it was a long grueling process that took about 3 months og lost money and grief. For us every dollar counts it is hard to make it these days. I just don't understand how they get away with this! And now there is a chance we will have to go through it all over again. This is rediculous! Somebody needs to put a stop to this!
Needless to say I will be going to the bank tommorrow morning and hopefully getting this resolved before anything happens. I will keep you updated but please watch out for these scam artists.
