Ok, I hired a PI to investigate these matters and still this group almost got me. Here is the way the scam works.
They pull posted projects off of listings on-line. They contact you and tell you they are going to move forward via email.
They go through elaborate negotiations. And make an agreement with you with you agreeing to pay the upfront attorney fees. And the attorney must be a UK attorney. What makes this scam seem legitimate is that they have stolen the email and contact information from an attorney in the UK. The name of the firm is Kapadia Solicitors. The scam seems legit because she is a registered firm. I have actually spoken with the attorney and she is a very nice lady. She has filed a report with the law regulators and is trying to get it corrected.
So anyway they send you wiring instructions to a firm named Hong Kong Yumei International LTD and they tell you it is there sister company. The legal fees are usually around $11,000.
I actually made the wire and they provided me an incorrect beneficiary name. If it wasnt for their mistake they would have gotten me.
