GE Money Bank
Fake promo rate - Credit

We bought a reclining love seat at Rooms To Go 12 months ago. We accepted the 24 month no payment no interest offer. We were a little surprised when we got a bill stating that our 12 month promo period had ended and the minumum amount due was 15.00. I called GE Money Bank to resolve the issue. The rep agreed it was thier error. He then told me that I needed to make at least the 15.00 minimum pmt to avoid late charges and keep the account current! When I told him that my contract clearly stated NO PAYMENTS and NO INTEREST for 24 mos. He put me on hold for several minutes while he spoke to his supervisor. When he came back on the line he said his supervisor confirmed what he had already told me.'You must pay at least the minimum due.' I told him I would not pay for thier error. He told me he would make the corrections to our account reflecting the 24 mo. Promo. A few days later I got a call from GEMB telling me that they had not recieved my payment and would now be charged a late fee! I went through the whole thing again, explaining why I did not pay and what happened with the other rep. Again I was told it was GEMB's error and that she would correct it. Again I was told that I needed to make that min. Pmt. As a matter of principle I refused. She told me she would resolve it. I told her I hoped so because I am tired of this. She asked me "What part of resoved do you not understand!" Well guess what! Today I got another bill for 15.00! I called again, going through the same crap. Long hold time, maze of promts and another frustrating, time consuming conversation with someone else. It is my strong belief that GEMB did not ever intend to honor the 24 mo. Promo. Offer. I see that as fraud. I will be reproting this to the new consumer credit protection agency. I have severe anxiety problems so this is the last thing on earth I need. When we consumers make a mistake we pay dearly for it. These sorry credit card companies are like a pack of sharks ready to attack. When they make a "mistake" (even several) we are expected to pay for that too.
