25290956When I received my first call from "Conserve, " I saw the name on my caller ID and thought it was an environmental organization. I picked up and asked to be put on their "do not call list." Then the caller said "This is Jennifer..." and paused as if she knew me. I thought "my friend Jennifer is calling from a weird place..." so I said "Hi Jenn!"
After all the confusion perpetuated by ConServe, this "Jennifer Walters" states she is from US Dept of Higher Ed and calling about my defaulted students loans.
In this day and age of Identity Theft how am I supposed to know something titled "Conserve" is really affiliated with the US Department of Education? I failed to receive paperwork from them b4 the call. I consider it irresponsible for the USDE to get folks into the habit of talking with unknown parties about delicate financial information.
I told her that I was applying for Disability, have been able to work for years due to a stress related condition. Though I had mailed a letter asking to be contacted only by mail decades ago, I asked for their address and assured her I would do so again.
After I got the info, I asked her once I mailed that in, that I would be free of calls? Her response was insisting on telling me how much I was in debt. Earlier I explained I have a stress related condition. She insisted that she had to talk to me about how much I owed. I found myself saying that "she was invading my life" to which she kept talking over me pushing the issue. After a couple rounds of getting worked up, my heart beating dangerously and difficulty breathing I demanded to speak to her manager.
After a couple minutes I talked with her manager, Mrs. Savy Richards. I shared my experience of the situation with Jennifer. Manager Richards apologized, offered to tell me the address that I already had and then, started in on me, again, that we had to discuss my account!!!
I demanded to speak to Mrs. Richards's manager. Multiple times Mrs. Savy Richards said she needed to be allowed to speak to me about my account. I insisted that at that time my issue was about how she and her subordinates were treating me, rather than anything I owed them. Multiple times I asked to speak to her manger, in a reasonably patient tone, considering the considerable distress my body was registering from what I felt was grave disrespect and abuse by Conserve employees.
After a few more minutes on hold (over 11 minutes into the entire call) I was put in touch with the first apparently humane person at this call center. She listened, apologized for them and assured me that she would talk with them. This manager stated that they want their associates to treat others with respect, yet until I spoke with her, I found Conserve was made up of deceptive, inefficient, unprofessional and outright abusive, ruthless people.
