I have been a customer of Wells Fargo Bank for 4 years and regret every day of it. They have extremely rude customer service representatives with hearts made of stone.
My husband received direct deposit every week into our Wells Fargo Checking account. We had received one of his deposits on Friday and it was not enough to cover all the bills we had due. We decided to pull out a direct deposit advance to cover the balance of our bills.
I called Friday morning to check the amount of the deposit and pulled out the advance Friday afternoon. Thinking every thing would work out great I sent out all my bills. Four days later I called the automated system (which I did faithfully every day) to make sure every thing was going smoothly.
I was overdrawn by over $350.00. I requested to speak with a representative to resolve the matter. They had pulled out the direct deposit advance on the same day I requested it. Why would any one in their right mind pull out a loan only to pay it back the same day with interest?
All the representative kept saying was it was my fault, it was not a computer error, and I should have known better. They said we should have read the customer disclosure which was given to me when I opened my account four years ago. Should I have carried it around in my pocket like a bible, I don't think so.
I pulled out the advance via the automated system. Why was I not given an option to hear the terms and conditions over the phone? If I would have known this was going to happen I would have waited one more day.
I didn't even find out this had happened until four days later. The bills were already in the hands of their receivers. All I could do was wait for them to be cashed and for me to be charged.
The customer service rep was very rude and inconsiderate. She gave me credit for two charges as a customer courtesy. Gee thanks!
Not only did this little incident put us in debt for weeks to come but I was in early labour the night I spoke to the rep about the situation. I weeped uncontrollably over the phone, this could not have happened at a worse time.
Six weeks before this happened my husband was hospitalized for bleeding ulcers. Four weeks before this happened I was hospitalized for preterm labour. And the day after this happened I gave birth to my son.
As you can see with all of this happening we had barely any income. Wells Fargo on the other hand could spare charging us these outrageous fees.
That same night I wrote a four page letter to corporate. It took them over five weeks to respond. During this waiting period I tried everything in my power to reach them by phone.
I spoke to another representative who said it corporate numbers were internal numbers and not for customers. Well that's nice customer service they have going on there. I even tried to get the number of the ceo of Well Fargo which they say they could not give me.
How do I get any where with this matter? The bank took two of my husband's direct deposits leaving us pennyless for weeks to come. We were finally able to cancel the direct deposit so we could have money to eat.
We still owe the bank a balance. We receive collection calls from them constantly, threatining our credit. I will not give in, and I cannot afford to give in.
There was a total of $255.00 in bank fees. This is outrageous, I do not have money to just be giving away. My advice is to never bank with Wells Fargo. They are out to steal from the poor and give to the rich.
