I have had an FCNB Speigel Card for at least 4 years... Never having any problems with the company. Then from what I understand FCNB stopped doing business with Spiegel. I was charged a $35.00 late fee on my last bill. I mailed the bill on 6/5/03 and it cleared my bank on 6/12/03. One day after it was due yet I still got a $35.00 late fee on my July statement. I didn't really get too upset although if the check cleared my bank on June 12th I would assume that they had the check by 6/11/03 when it was due. So why the late fee?! So for this bill due 7/12/03 I sent out the bill on 7/3/03. I have checked my bank and the check still has not cleared my account. Today is the 16th! How can it take 2 weeks for the check to get from Las Vegas to Beaverton Oregon?
If I get a late fee on my August statement I will refuse to pay it rest assured. I have tried to call the toll free number 1-800-925-4976 and there is a message that the number has been changed to 516-576-8766... Which always rings busy. I would love to speak to someone to verify that they have even received my payment sent out on 7/3/03!!
Looks like I am not the only one having problems with this company. I may send my next bill Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested then I will know that they have received it.
