ATM deposit on a Saturday. Check written and cashed on following Tuesday (Monday was a holiday).
National City Bank held my deposit (which was a local check from a money market fund) until after they debited my account for scheduled bill pays and the above mentioned check. Debits and credit to my account happened on the same day.
They charged me 9 - $30 overdraft charges in 1 day because I had some scheduled online bill pays come through on that Tuesday and a few transactions as well.
I called them and told them to credit my account for the overdraft charges stating I had been a good customer for over 10 years and I had overdraft protection and the check was deposited 3 days before the charges were made.
They said I did not have overdraft protection although they admitted that I had applied for it years earlier and they just didn't know why it had not been set up.
They refused to credit my account. I told them I would take my money elsewhere and they actually said - "You'll find all banks are the same" I said - I wonder what your CEO would say if he heard you tell a customer that your bank is no better than any other".
I am now in the process of moving all of my money to a local bank.
