Ridiculous Overdraft Charges Chesterfield

If you're like me, you don't understand how US Bank's online banking works. What I mean by that is when I log into check my account balance, transactions, etc., I can't really understand why, when my account shows as a positive balance before pending transactions go through (and it shows I have enough in my account before the transactions are posted), that it somehow goes into the negative BEFORE my direct deposit posts to my account.

It seems to me that US Bank is purposely pushing the remaining transactions through and posting them to my account before the direct deposit posts. It happens EVERY TIME when a direct deposit is coming into my account! I can prove this; once I called to get some incorrect overdraft charges reversed on my account, and at one point during the conversation the gentleman I was speaking with informed me, "it looks like you have a deposit coming into your account this Friday"... It was Tuesday when I spoke with him. Now, explain to me how it is that I know my direct deposit goes into my account at 12:00 A.M. On Thursday/Friday, but they can somehow "see" that pending deposit THREE days earlier? There's no mistake there.

What's worse is that those overdraft fees don't even show as pending transactions. For example, my account was in the negative once (showing -$8.10). So I put some money into my account to put it into the positive. The $100 I put into my account was then swallowed up by those overdraft charges that weren't showing before but somehow magically appeared. After overdraft fees, I only had about $10 left in my account. Coincidence? I think not!

My husband is a computer programmer and he explained to me that most banks' computer programs automatically function that way in order to make sure that your pending transactions post before the direct deposit, even when you know you had enough in your account, thus causing unnecessary overdraft charges (in the amount of $37.50). Never in my history with banks have I ever had this many problems, nor have I been charged this much in overdraft fees!

Did you know that after so many transactions in a savings account with US Bank, they charge a $60 maintenance fee... What the heck are they maintaining??? Everyone knows that with the way the economy is today, most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and dwindle their accounts down to the last few dollars. Better make sure you've got at least a decent amount left in your account before your next check gets direct-deposited!
