I purchased a Laptop (Gateway) from HSN back in March thru their TV show and agreed to make 4 payments (flex-pay) that would eventually pay off the Laptop. The first 2 payments were made but after the second payment was made my company cut my pay 80% and I went from grossing 1000 dollars every 2 weeks to grossing anywhere from 200-340 every 2 weeks. Sincing that I would in know way be able to keep my next 2 payments on time I called HSN and talked to their Flex-pay Department.
I told them my situation and was willing at that time to send the Laptop back. They told me that they would move my payments back a month and to call if things did not change. I reluctantly agreed and as I figured my financial situation did not change and I once again called and spoke to HSN.
I was told at that time that they could not give another 30 days and they asked me what I could send. I did not know at that time what to tell them but I agreed to send them what I could. I was told by HSN that after 6 months if your account is not paid it goes into collections. I was told not to worry as they do not report this to the credit bureau as long as you make an effort to pay.
I called back maybe a week later and thought I had a solution that would be benificial to HSN and myself. I asked if I could send then 75 dollars over the next 4 months or so and that would pay off my Laptop. I believe that this converstaion accured sometime towards the end of July or the First of August. I bwas trying to do what I could to pay off my Laptop
I was at this time surprised by the response I received. I was told that they do not except partial payments.in talking more the Lady agreed to move my account to check Pay and if I could only send 75 dollars that my check would be put into a envelope and would not be credited to my account until another 75 dollars was received.
On August 17th I was online glancing over my checking account online and noticed that they had cahshed my 75 dollars check of which they told me they were holding. Because of the low income I am receiving I at most times have very little money in the bank. The 75 dollar check they cashed overdrew my account and cost me another 37 dollars that I realluy did not have to give.
I contacted HSN and was told that they never told me that they would hold the check. It was at that time that I told them I would have a little tougher time coming up with another 75 dollars to send them as I was going to have to make good on the overdraft before anything. I was told by HSN that once again they did not except partial payments and after 6 months my account would go to collections. I told them I would do my best but tryb living on 600 dollars a month and she hung up.
That was my Last contact that I have had with HSN verbally. I went online September 12th at my banking center looking to see if a couple of small bills that I had sent out had cleared.in my account was 100 dollars that I had to cover 70 dollars in bills and hopefull buy enough groceries to get me thru until September 18th when I get another 300 dollar check. I was shaking when I saw that HSN had debited 2 payments of 149.97 out of my account.
I received no phone call, no warning Nothing!!!
The fact that they debited my funds unauthorized is very distressing to me but they took more out of my account then I even owed. I was due to send out another 75 dollars this coming September 18th when I got paid and that would have left me with one payment of 149.97 and I would have had the Laptop paid off.
I immediately contacted HSN Customer service and was hung up on when I enquired abou, not only why they took out money when I was on check pay, But when I asked about what happened to the 75 dollars I sent I was rudely hung up on
I am so frustrated and I am hoping apon hope that there is someone out there who can help me get Justice. Because of the unauthorized debits my account is now being charged 2 more over drafts and when the other 2 checks that I had the money to cover arrive 2 more over drafts will appear for a total of 4 or 168 dollars. Also my bank charges an additional 8 dollars a day until the account becomes current again. I, once again, make 300 dollars every 2 weeks as a result of a pay slashing and the few hrs I receive while working Light Duty as I await neck fusion surgery which my company is fighting
