I cosigned on an account a year ago. I expressly told the representative that I wanted to be notified if ever a payment was missed. This year, the person who was paying on the account told Household Bank to change her address. The address was never changed.in fact, Household Bank was told to change the address several times and did not. Statements kept being send to the wrong address. The primary person on the account was paying the her bills, but Household bank was not recording that they had been paid. Also, the primary payer had since the start of the loan become disabled. There was credit protection on the account. She asked Household bank about the credit protection and was told there was no such thing on the account. I was finally notified by collections that the loan had not been paid in three months. I had received no previous notice that payments had been missed, and since the primary payer was actually paying, I was never told by her that it was delinquent. This was a lie. I paid them the amount due after being told that the lateness of the account had not been posted to my credit report yet and that if I did pay, it would not be put on my credit report. This was also a lie. I found out a couple weeks later when I went to close on a new home that they had already posted it to my credit report. This caused me to lose my home because their reporting of false information on my credit report had lowered my immaculate credit rating to a great extent. When I tried to talk to customer service for Household Bank, no one would listen to me and apologized that one of their employees had given me false information. They would not change their false report the the credit agency, so my family and I had to move in with relatives until we can find a new place to live.
