I am a hardworking, single, american mom with a modest checking account. Since opening my account, Bank of America somehow manages to put a "hold" on every one of my deposits. This has not only occurred with personal checks. It has occurred with government checks (tax refund), and corporate checks. It always seems to happen when my balance is low. I receive NO notification that a hold is on my account. So, I have overdrawn and endured the NSF charges. How can this be? It seems like they 'lie in wait' for my account balance to drop, then they slap a 'hold' on my latest deposit. And, don't even get me started on their customer service department. I get a variety of unhelpful, unrelated responses from them, if I receive any response at all.
