Providian seemed to be an upright and honest company when I first applied for their credit cards. After a few months I received multiple phone calls from Providian stating that I qualified for Credit Protector, Destination Unlimited, Health Care discounts. I did not get the full explanation of the benefits for these products and therefore was not told of their limitations.
I recently relocated and fell on hard times, so I could not get unemployment and was told by Providian that I did not qualify for activation of "Credit Protection". Providian did not credit my account for the one month relocation fee as described in this product. I was simply told that I did not qualify. The health care product is a joke. None of the pharmacies would accept this card as a discount as I was told by Providian. So as a result my accounts went into Providian collections dept. The many phone calls from some of the rudest people to ever grace the face of this earth, would not take the time to listen or understand or even try to come to some type of payment plan.
I was told by one collection rep. To keep my payments as it was an insult to her client. Well, I will continue to send payments as I have never denied that I owe the debt not have I ever said that I "refused" to pay.
I've fell on hard times and just could not meet the payments. Now that I have started sending payments to Providian, they have the audacity to say "keep your money for a lawyer". What kind of company treats a client in such a discusting manner.
All of the late fees and high interest rates are just adding an already bad debt that most people like myself feel that they will never be able to "dig out". Providian is a deceitful, unethnical company who hire people to collect their debts that are "scum" and very unprofessional.
I feel cheated and lied to about all that Providian said they stand for and would like everyone out there who reads this to pass the word on to other unsuspecting consumers and friends, don't take any phone calls from Providian or advise their friends about Providian as you all will regret it later! Be aware, be very aware!
