It's been a long time since I've had to deal with this company, and I shudder just to think about everything I had to endure... Stress, sleepless nights, countless hours writing letters and making calls. Ugh.
When they started making late payments and continued for months to withdraw monthly fees for balances that were paid off, I did not leave these people alone. I called night and day, I saved every shred of paper they sent me and I them. I saved every email, every phone bill demonstrating how much I called. I collected information from all of my creditors and bank.
I wrote a huge check and just paid off my last credit card. (I wasn't eligible for my refund of the initial start-up fee because I gave the last payment directly to Capital One... Of course)
They continued to take money out of my checking account after all balances were paid, sending my account into overdraft status. I closed my checking account and opened a new one with the same bank.
A YEAR! Later I get a notice from the bank that FCCC was trying to withdraw funds from my old checking account.
At that point I had had it. I called an investigator with the FBI in Florida and told him that this company was engaged in fraudulent activity and they were trying to access my bank account.
I unexpectedly received a check refunding most of my money within a few months.
