Triple Advantage
Freecreditreport.com won't cancel or let you talk with a supperviso

A few months ago I wanted to check my "free" credit report and since by law you are entitled to one a year I figured I would go through freecreditreport.com. I entered the initial info and they asked for a CC# to verify age/etc. I had everything entered and then I saw the Triple Advantage free trial so I check my report and immediately called the customer service number to cancel everything... I was using a prepaid card and I didn't have the amount they were asking. They said "no problem" and canceled it right away. I recently checked my pre-paid balance and saw several charge attempts: 5/24/09 $14.95 5/30/09 $29.90 6/6/09 $29.95
6/15/09 $29.90 6/19/09 $29.90 and was told the first and last charge was on 6/23/09 $29.90 (note I called on the 22nd and there is a charge for the 23rd in place. I kept asking why there was a charge for a "Free" credit report because by law you are entitled to one, she stated: we are not a part of the government and it was too bad I misunderstood. How do you misunderstand "FREE"? Experian is part of the reporting agencies that is required. Now because it was a pre-paid I wasn't actually charged any NSF fees but everything is locked up and I am afraid to add any money on it... When I talked with customer service I was told that I signed up, when I explained that I canceled before I even had the window closed she said that wasn't possible and see kept sounding like a broken record no matter what I told her so I asked for a supervisor. She asked why and I said that I just wanted to speak with a supervisor, and back and forth — she refused to get a supervisor until I gave a detailed reason why. I have since checked around and found out that the Federal Trade Commission has been all over companies that continue to misrepresent themselves like this for several years now. (http://www.ftc. Gov/opa/08/consumerinfo. Shtm)
Luckily I am not out any money but I will have to cancel my pre-paid and get a different one. The point is that this company is repeatedly ripping people off and misrepresenting themselves and costing people more than if the just stayed with the bad credit!
