I have have the most unbearable experience with NextCard, it was a long time ago but I just came across this site and wanted to let my story be heard.in September 01 I got my NextCard bill in the mail, the postmark was the 13th but the bill was due on the 11th, two days prior. The bill was not my original bill, it was a photocopy of my bill.
I immediately called NextCard and told them the situation, the gentleman on the phone said they don't send out photocopies and the postmark and due date did not sound correct. I made the man aware that I wanted to pay my bill over the phone to not get any charges. He said they didn't have that capability and told me to just mail it in.
I told him that I didn't want any harrassing phone calls about being late and he said not to worry noone would call me because he was documenting it in to the system. Well 2 days later the phone rang and it was NextCard telling me I had not made my September payment. I again told them about the Copy of the bill and the postmark and due date, again the person on the other end could not believe my story and had no record of my initial call. But the caller reminded me that no fees will be assesed and they documented our conversation.
When I got my next bill there was a late fee and the late fee put me over the limit so now I have $60.00 in fees. I paid this eventhough I felt I shouldn't have too. The next month the fees were on the bill (Novembers Bill). I called NextCard and asked them why there were fees again, the response was those fees are from your Septembers bill!
Of course there was no documentation in the computer of my previous conversations. To sum it up I went back and forth with NextCard for 3 months and they made off with $180.00 of my money because they refused to document my conversationsand take the blame for not doing it.
