I found this "business" online searching for "personal loans for bad credit". Their website looks legit, it even states that the "AFS Guarantee" is, if they don't get you approved for your loan, their consulting services are free. There is even a Better Business Bureau logo on the site.
I applied for my loan. I recieved a quick response that I had been Pre Qualified for my loan and there was even a form for you to submit all of your personal information, job, etc. (agreement form and initial application) and at the bottom a place for you to fill out your credit card info and a place for you to "electronically sign" for authorization for their "consulting service" fee. It states on the "document" the fee is $189.50.
Before I filled this info out, I checked BBB website and they were rated C-, which I was a little weary about, but trusted more. I replied to sender of this application, and very specifically stated the awful financial shape I am in and can't even get a loan w/a cosigner. He replies with this b.S. About how much he has a heart and will lower his fee from $199 (this is more than the agreement states) to $124 and will stay up late even on his own time and work hard for every bit of that money, etc. I told him the money I am paying for his services is borrowed money I got from my Mom (which she borrowed and has no way of paying it back), which I explained to him I cannot pay back until I get this loan and asked him again if I was sure to recieve the loan.
He stated that he already explained to me the services I would recieve from him. So, with the fact that Better Business Bureau had them at a C - (which is not good, thinking about it), and how much I fell for his "having a heart", I fell for it. I filled all information in, including my credit card # paying him for the "service" (on borrowed money) and sent it.
The very next day, I recieved only 3 links to 3 seperate places for me to apply to MYSELF, 1) these were links to 2 of which were big banks that would laugh at my application for a loan, which they basically did, I was instantly denied, the other link to a big Financial loan place that I already applied W / a great credit cosigner and was denied. THAT'S IT! That is what I paid $124 to him to recieve! I paid him $124 for 3, only 3 links to financial institutions that you need great credit for any loan. He did not stay up all night, working hard for me at all!
So, I, of course, sent him an email asking for my money back since I was denied. (like their "AFS Guarantee" clearly states) He told me, "sorry, that is my NON REFUNDABLE fee for my services". Nowhere on the agreement form says anything about the fee being non refundable, anywhere. This man, the one with such a big heart, has been arguing with me back and forth via email, he did offer to tell me about other financial places to try, but it would be an extra $199, but for me would only be $99. This should be illegal! Now, I am stuck with "trying" to find a way to pay back my Mother for the money SHE borrowed for this. I sent him a final email stating that he can just keep the money then, if it makes him feel better about himself and told him I was going to report this to the Better Buisness Bureau, etc. I have all emails saved and you would just have to read them to believe it! Wow! This is an online scam, big time!
