Chase Credit Cards
Late Posting payment mailed 7 days early. Charged $29.00 and refuses to refund charge

Chase Platinum Visa Card - $40,000 line and we pay our balance in full every month. FICO scores near 800, excellent credit.

The payment processing center is in Palatine Illinois, never more than 2 days by first class mail from our Michigan home. March statement payment was mailed on March 14, with a March 21 due date. Chase did not POST the payment until March 23, NINE DAYS LATER and charged us a $29.00 late fee. Claim they did not receive the payment until 3/23... BULL!!! To add insult to injury, the late fee resulted in two months of a $1.00 interest charge each month (double cycle billing! Another Chase ripoff)

Before I called Customer Disservice, I pulled 6 previous statements... in 4 cases, the payment was posted 2 days after we mailed the check, in the other 2 cases, 3 days.

THERE IS NO WAY THIS PAYMENT WAS RECEIVED LATE! We normally send payments around the 10th of the month against the 21st due date, this one happened to go out on the 14th.

First level customer disservice simply said "obviously the payment was late" and refused to credit the $29.00. I immediately asked for a supervisor. She said "with your good payment history, I would automatically refund the late fee, but we don't ever refund late fees! She said she was going to credit the two $1.00 interest charges, but "there is no way we will refund the late fee, the payment was late"

Chase has long been the most abusive, predatory credit card company out there... Highest rates, most deceptive advertising and no-reason rate hikes. The ONLY reason we keep their card is the $40,000 line with no balance as a FICO booster.

I am positive Chase is shoring up sluggish purchases (resulting in lower merchant fee revenue) by HOLDING PAYMENTS that are received within 3-4 days of the due date, and NOT POSTING them until after the due date, triggering the late fee and in many cases the abusive interest rates. They've been sued and fined for this in the past, and are obciously back at it.

Use your own judgement, if you pay your balance every month interest rates don't mean squat, but with the slimy ways Chase shakes down even its good customers, there are alot better companies out there to deal with.

THIS "LATE FEE" was caused by Chase. Either intentially (my bet) or they lost the payment internally.in either case, I want it refunded, and now!
