I had a Chase credit card with a fixed interest rate of 4%. I was making automatic payments which were more than the required payment 4 - 5 days before the due date which was the 8th of each month.in Sept of 07, I decided to to cancell the card so that I could pay it off.in Oct 07, Chase "without notece" backed my payment up to the 2nd of the month so I would be late, charged me a late fee and jacked my interest up to 16%. Since I had closed the account and the payments were going along electronically, I assumed things were fine. Then, because they changed the interest and added a late fee in Nov, they jacked my interest up to 29.99 percent! I now get to pay 700.00 dollars a month just in interest!
I called Chase and they refused to make any changes and told me I should have watched out, and that there is nothing they can do to help. I think this is a terrible scam. I have a excellent record with Chase and other lenders except when they resort to trickery to take hard earned money from people like me. I am a diabled veteran who has had it socked to me. I will never do business with Chase again no matter what happens. If there are any class action suits being started against these unethical business practices, please count me in. I want to be the first in line!
