Had $5 balance so I could cash checks written on US Bank. They claim a monthly account statement was returned by the postal service, and charged my account $7. This caused a $2 overdraft. They made no attempt to contact me, and even let me cash checks without mentioning it. The entire time, compounding, multiple daily overdraft fees were levied.
Eventually, the balance reached nearly $400 owed. Branch manager agreed with me that a non-disclosed fee should not have been charged, that a fee not incurred through my actions should not overdraft my account, and that they should have notified me sooner. She misinformed me that it would be handled internally, and they began hiring collection agencies to harass me at work.
This, plus other abuses I suffered at the hands of US Bank (ie no pretection from credit card fraud that was reported within 24 hours of occuring, numerous baseless fees, etc), have left me disgusted with this bank, I highly recommend that anyone with a US Bank account immediately abandon this bank immediately. Choose a credit union, such as instead.
