I was notified that Chase bank had acquired my Wamu account. I was advised to set up an account through Chase to pay my credit card on line, I did. The online payment center offered paperless billing which I thought was a good thing— until I opened their e-mail this morning. Not only did I not get a statement for the last billing cycle, I was notified they now raised my interest to the default percentage of 29.9%! I immediately went online to make the account current and called customer service. The rep. I spoke to informed me that I now had the default interest rate and there was nothing that could be done. Even though I didn't receive an upcoming payment alert. (funny though, I got the e-mail with the new rate) My account went from 0% interest to 29.9% and I think I was set-up! I don't think they liked having to acquire accounts that were not making them a sl of money so this is how they turned the tables. Buyer beware, closing the account and paying it off asap!
