I knew a woman who made a deal with a manager at 21st to send in her cashed in 401K money, then make payments. After she sent the money, they backed out on the deal and foreclosed! I know this because I worked there and was party to the entire agreement with the customer. I have always felt horrible about it, but there is nothing I can do except try to help someone else avoid it in the future. It's the right thing to do...

Why this works esp. For 21st is that they are constantly buying portfolios of loans from other lenders. If they try to take the house, tell them to produce the note. Many times they will take months to find it, if they ever do.in most states, the original document is required... Not a copy, so this works.
When they harrass you and threaten to take your house, or call your relatives, or call you at midnight... And you think they have broken the law...

Also ask the debt collector for their full name and phone number, then remind them that not only is their employer liable for breaking the law, but they are also personally liable and can be taken to court.
