So one of the "collection agent" named Luva calls me one day on my cell phone; I dont know how they got my cell phone number in the first place. Ofcourse I dont answer and wait to see if this person calling me with this number I dont know will leave a message, she left a message not identifying themself as a collection agency or anything at all. She left a message with a call back number, I asked one of my friends to call back and find out who it was. Turns out it was Luva from VCS and said she really needed to call her back to come to an agreement to pay off this account. So I giver her a call back and she lets me know that the original creditor Wells Fargo has turned in the account to VCS and there is a balance of 1,400.00 we came to an agreement that I was going to pay 150.00 for 6 months and she requested that I needed to write post dated checks for the 6 months and she made me repeat this into the phone while she rocorded what I was saying! After the 6 months she told me that my balance on the account would be around the 600 dollar range and we could settle the account at around 300 dollars; so this sounded fair to me and I agreed. I wrote 6 post dated checks and paid every one of those checks each month when due. So now that I have paid the 6 months off I was expecting Luva to call me back but intead it was someone else named Valerie who called me at work! She asks for me specifically by name and ofcourse she gets transferred to my extension at my office. She lets me know shes from VCS and wants me to write off more checks! I was caught off guard so I couldnt remember Luva's name at that time so I did the next best thing I aked her who was the person that helping me before so she looks up the information and lets me know its someone named luci??? I go with the flow and ask to be transferred over to this "luci" and she tells me she is no longer employed there, so I let her know that "luci" and I had an agreement that I would pay 6 months and then settle at around 300 and she said in a laud voice she no longer works here and we cannot settle on half unless the debt was over 10,000.00 dollars and then I aked her what the remaining balance on the account was and she said it was at $747.00. I have been reading about the FDCPA so I let her know not to call me at work anymore because its against company policies and told her to call me back next month and she agreed to that. As soon as I got off the phone I wrote a "cease communication" letter and mailed it off to thier Minnesotta location thorugh certified mail. If they do call back to harrass me for more money I will file a complaint with FTC on FTC. Gov against this company. I am now in the process of getting help with my local CCCS and hope they can help me deal with these lying dogs.
