I opened, being a senior citizen, a "Silver" account with Woodforest Bank about 6 months ago. Very conveniently located in Walmart. The person who serviced me was very personable. We set up a direct deposit checking account and she informed me I would have a $600. Line of credit. Very nice I thought since I had only $300. Line of credit at my former bank. Recently I had a need to use less than $100. Of that money. Shortly after I got notice that I'm overdrawn and will be charged $32. Plus $3. A day if I go past 8 days of overdrawn. I'm shocked and go to the bank.
Well the original person who opened my account is no longer there and from a so called manager who just keeps repeating to me in a very aggressive militeristic manner the policy for overdrafts. They deny the line of credit having ever existed and in the paperwork I have there is no mention of it. I call their headquarters and get a hold of a superviser and the call the branch manager who in turn calls me. He is very upset and annoyed and ounce again like some kind of robot repeats the overdrawn policy and makes it clear that he's in charge not the main office. The result is that he withdraws one $32. Charge but leaves the 5 days of $8. Charges and the second $32. Charge. I asked him what he thought would be the outcome of his type of "customer service" will be. He said I could close my account and I said you've got it.
I called Social Security so my check will not go into that account next month and I'm shopping for a new bank. A very traditional bank this time, not one that acts like telemarketing company.
