Compass Bank
Charged me $233 in fees for a $5 charge!

I had not had a bank account in some time, due to being screwed over by several banks in the past, and compass was one of those banks. I opened a account at their Broadway office located in a Albertsons, I had the account open maybe 2 months. Admittedly, I overdrew my account, and one pay day I went to my branch to cash my paycheck, aware of the small balance I was minus on, I was going to cash my check and of course make a deposit. Boy did i get a surprise when they refused to cash my pay check! I was like how do you expect me to clear up this matter when you will not cash my pay check, I spoke to the manager, who was very rude, she would not give me a explanation that made any sense as to why they would not cash the paycheck.

I later went back and said I wanted the account closed, and they said they would not close it due to the overdrawn amount, and I said that if they would not cash my pay check and my own bank how did they expect me to resolve the overdrawn amount! So, they would never close the account, and I recently found, after going to another branch and trying to open a account, they added fees to the original $5 over drawn amount, and now the total is $233! A employee at another main branch named Veronica told me that they had sent the account to collections, a company called RJM, I called RJM and was going too resolve the issue with them, and see if they would offer a settlement, they said that I had no accounts with them.

So I called back twice to finally speak to Veronica again, who said she was misled, and that the $233 had to be paid to the bank to re-open my account. Originally Veronica told me that if RJM offered me a settlement and cleared everything up with them, that I could call her and tell her it was paid and after "security" was notified I could re-open my account. So, the story changed, and Veronica informed me that I had to pay Compass the $233 and that they would not offer me a settlement to resolve the issue and open a account even though the original overdrawn amount was only $5. I asked to speak to a manager, and the customer service manager came on, and also informed me that they indeed would not reduce the $233 amount, I had to wait 30 days to be able to open a account, if I paid the $233, and that it would not be a "regular" account, that I would have to pay fees with everything involved with the account, including online banking!

So, although Compass originally treated me like crap, like a idiot I went back there to try to open a account, (unkowing that I even had a issue with them that had been left unresolved), tried to resolve the matter with them, and was treated like a second class citizen over $5!
