HFC is DEFINATELY not military friendly.
I financed an item through them, and had an AUTOMATIC allotment taken out of my check and sent to them EVERY month. It was taken out and sent on time, EVERY time.
For those not familiar with the military's automatic allotments, once you make an allotment, the finance center where the military member gets paid from will take the amount of the allotment and AUTOMATICALLY send it to the recipient via a US TREASURY CHECK, they pay those EVERTIME and ON TIME EVERYTIME, just ask ANY military person.
Those allotments WILL NOT stop until you file the paperwork with your finance center to have them stopped.
On with the nightmare, I recieved a phone call from these clowns saying they had not received a payment (This was about four or five years ago) and they had not received a payment for about THREE months, I more or less told them they were CRAZY because I had it set up on automatic allotments.
They instantly raised the interest rate and started adding finance fees and late charges and all that other bull for payments that were BEING MADE.
I called the Department of Defense Finance Center and informed them of what was going on, and they ASSURED me that EVERY payment was sent ON TIME, EVERYTIME. They even gave me the check numbers of the US Treasury checks that they were paid on.
I was instructed to write a letter to US Treasury Office in Denver, CO where they kept the checks and explain to them in DETAIL what was going on and if they would send me a photostatic copy of the checks, WHICH THEY DID.
This happened about the October, November and December time frame in which HFC said they never received the three payments.
Keep in mind that I REPEATEDLY (And I mean LITERALLY DOZENS of times) explained to the nimrods that kept calling and harrassing me about sending out a payment that the PAYMENT was sent and how it was on an automatic allotment, ALL I heard we haven't received it yet, and I GOOD AND WELL knew they had, because I had copies of the CANCELLED US Treasury checks!!!
They quit calling I think it was in January of the next year, because according to my monthly statement it showed they had received A PAYMENT for that month, but NO CREDIT for the previous three months.
I sent them a copy of the cancelled US Treasury checks and they STILL did not give me credit for the payments.
This went on and on and to my utter disbelieve October of the following year came and BAM, they SAME THING happened AGAIN, so for the next three months I was constantly on the phone with these knotheads, explaining AGAIN about the automatic allotments and same old same old, but to no avail, all I heard was we haven't recieved a payment, and when can you make a payment.
Well they tore it, I have a membership with Pre-Paid Legal and said this is the PERFECT opportunity to use it, and use it I did. I contacted the law firm and explained IN DETAIL what was going on, and they instructed me to send them all my monthly statements (Which I still have ALL of them) and a copy of the cancelled checks and have HFC send me a copy of my payment history and they would take it from there.
I sent the law firm all the documentation and the law firm sent them SEVERAL letters informing them of THEIR mistake and the PROOF that ALL payments were made, and the law firm always sent me a copy of the letters (Which I still have), and kept me informed on the status of the case.
Well low and behold they kept just blowing off the law firm also, and FINALLY when the law firm sent a letter instructing HFC that they were about to file a law suit against them, HFC somehow, someway MIRACULOUSLY found the missing payments, VERY STRANGE, and the law firm MADE sure that ALL finance charges and late fees and all that other horsecrap was taken off the bill, and that they had to report to the credit bureau about THEIR blunder.
FINALLY I got a letter from HFC saying that they had made a mistake and found the missing payments (This was about THREE YEARS LATER) after their initial screw up.
Well lo and behold, ONE year after all this happened, guess what, about October the SAME THING happend AGAIN, and they said they were missing three payments AGAIN, thank goodness I didn't owe much on the bill then, so it was paid in FULL a few months after that, and I STILL haven't stopped the allotment, but will this month, and I am going to call HFC this week and get another payment history sent to me, (BY LAW, they HAVE TO DO IT) and I am going to call the law firm and explain to them that HFC had done the SAME THING AGAIN, and THIS TIME, I'm going to tell the law firm that JUSTICE NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!
It is RIDICULOUS that a company can get away with such nonsense as this, I will NEVER, EVER have any dealings with this company EVER again, and will advise EVERYONE I know to watch out for them. I am also going to the my US Congressman's office and see if anything can be done about this company from their end, because it did involve a military person, and a bill that was paid with US Treasury checks, so I think I CAN make a FEDERAL case out of it.
I have ALL documentation to PROVE EVERY WORD of what I wrote above IS TRUE!!! So if ANYONE out there is thinking about doing business with this company, I would advise you to think again.
