Bank Of America
Fees, fees and due to their error more fees

I have been a Bank of America customer for over a year, having both a checking and savings accout with them. I fell into their "Keep the chage" promotion and signed up. I had my paychecks direct deposited with them and just used a debit card to acess my funds since they do not have a branch in my state.

Seemed like somehow or another, I was always coming up over drawn, not alot, by a dollar or 2, therefore I would get hit with their fees, $35.00 each time. I decided to cancel the keep the change, and see if that helped, which of course, one way or another it never did. I would always go negative before payday, and I kept records of all transactions and knew to the penny what I would have. Viewing online, things never added up perfect. That was strike one

Strike two was when all the sudden they started charging me a fee for my savings account after 8 months w/o ever being charged a fee. I always kept just a bare min. Amount in, no more than $10, ususally less from day one. I asked to cancel the account and it took over 4 months for that to happen.

Strike 3 happened last week. I signed up for an account at Chase because they have tons of local offices here. I decided to keep my BOA account open so that I would not have to switch the few places that I had auto bill payments set up with, and had set it so X amount would be deposited into BOA, and the rest to Chase. Come payday, I use my BOA debit card to get fuel, assuming all was fine and dandy since I never had a problem on payday with any deposits, and the correct amount was put into Chase (I keep a spreadsheet that keep and down to the $ amont of what my check will be due to not getting the same amount weekly). I went to work, and started looking and my deposit was not in my BOA accont. I went to payroll and they pulled the change forms and the direct deposit slips and all looked good, routing number matched the deposit form, account number matched, so we assumed it would post that day, just a delay with BOA.

2 days later I get an alert that I am now over drawn with my BOA account and we cannot figure out why. I went and looked and my deposit was still not there. I looked at my check stub and my BOA account book and noticed that the routing number on the checks (all I had were the carbon copies, I was out of checks) and deposit slips were not the same. I looked at my stub and noticed it matched the slip, but not the checks. I called BOA up and they explained that the deposit slips were not to be used for direct deposits, only for internal use. I found that odd, that they did not have it written on the slips anywhere, BUT upon looking at the slips closer, they had a routing number for ACH but it was in such fine print hardly anyone can see or read it. I argured with them, all the way up the chain of command asking that I not pay the over draft fee, but they would not budge, since the deposit slip was what I used for the direct deposit.

Due to those issues, I have closed my accounts at BOA, not that I have a ton of money there, but it is one less account than they had, and I will spread the word to avoid them due to their unfair practices and them changing the terms of the account at a moments notice to benifit them.
