I had received a letter from Penncro Associates in September, offering to settle my overdue Dell Financial Account for the sum of $921.14. I agreed, and paid check by phone that very afternoon. I received my confirmation number, and the agent told me that within 30 days, Dell would be notified, and my account would be closed.
It is now December, and my account with Dell is still open, accruing interest and late charges. I have now been referred to a different collection agency, even though I already settled.
Dell has no record of WHICH company they used for this transaction. A quick look at my records showed Penncro, so I called their 1-800-684-7615 number. The operator took my information, but could find NO record of my account with them. I assured them that they did INDEED take the money out of my account that very day. I gave them my confirmation number, my case number, last name, first names, social security numbers, everything.
I was referred to the Texas office. (1-866-779-9279). I spoke to management, who assured me that they WERE NOT the Texas office, and in fact, had cancelled their contracts with Dell months ago. SUPER! So, they gave me the number to the "real" Texas office (956-994-9975). I spoke to the manager (Matt), and he assured me that even though they no longer work with Dell, that he would get this mess straightened out.
I called Dell Financial Services to let them know of this error, but according to them, I only made a "payment" of 921.14, and not a "settlement". Matt assured me that this would be taken care of in 24-48 hours, so I will update when I receive that information.
The customer service is horrible both with Penncro and Dell Financial. They referred me to a huge circle of numbers, with no success. Every department passed the buck along to another one! I am very upset. Every day that my account shows delinquent is another bad score on my credit report.
