I made my mortgage payment on the 14th using online bill pay, but it was not credited until the 18th nailing me with a $44.00 late fee. The policy is that it takes 24 to 72 hours for a payment to be credited. The question is not if IF they can credit a payment on the same day, because for an additional fee of $15.00 they will gladly do it. Also, if you mail a check, they say it can be electronically drafted on the same day. Why can't they just credit the payment on the day it is made? We all know the reason is to RIP OFF consumers and hit us with another fee. It's not like the $1,100.00 interest is enough, they don't miss an opportunity to suck more life out of you.
Research shows the bulk of service fees are paid by the young and poor. I wish someone would stand up to these blood sucking banks and make them stop taking advantage of us.
I understand hitting me with a late fee IF I'M LATE! I am doing everything I can to make it, and these unfair fees do not help.
