Two years ago, my company went to war with Fifth/Third over a loan that we REQUESTED forebearance on, and the bank agreed. We originally borrowed the money from Old Kent (who we had an excellent arrangement with), and everything that happened was supposedly related to the switchover to Fifth Third. The bank then violated that agreement with additional fees that were unnecessary, unjustified and unfair. We agreed to a settlement to have a collection agency resolve the issue... We actually ASKED for one, as the terms would remain the same from one month to the next. The bank, agreed... And then filed a judgement and stole our money... Even though we completely agreed with the settlement.
A month ago, after the death of my grandmother, I went to close out her accounts at Fifth/Third and was told that based on her date of death, the last deposit from Social Security was not at issue. I also reviewed every account, and changed the address on the account so that the mail would come to my home.
In thirty days time, the bank sent me two over-the-limit credit cards that had apparently been three years in arrearages... Cards I did not even know existed. Further research discovered that they had taken money from my grandmothers account while she was alive. As I dug deeper, I discovered that they had been mailing these statements to a defunt post office box for over two years, and claimed they could not reach me. The same bank that was able to find me for the loan and forebearance agreement.
Today they called me to tell me that they need to "reclaim" my grandmothers last social security check... The same check they told me was not at issue after she died.
Since paying off ALL debts related to Fifth/Third, and verifying WITH the bank that this was complete. They managed to find another $3,700.00 is debt that apparently could not be located at the time when I asked, and now they want their money with interest which they managed to charge me without notifying me and then rip off my 91 year old grandmother calling it right to offset.
The sheer number of unforgivable activities from this bank directed at me could be considred a coordinated, planned attack against my financial future, but Fifth/Third is just not that well organized. This is all the result of people choosing to go to work everyday and absolve themselves of responsibility using the phrase "The Computer Says...".
At this stage of the game, I'd like to sue them for everything they have done but I am unsure where to begin. I have documentaiton, witnesses and a well documented chronology.
I am all done turning the other cheek...
Now I want to hit back.
