They took $149.95 out of my bank account

We received a letter from our bank notifying us that USA Credit was doing an inquiry into our bank account. If we did not authorize them to debit or credit monies from or into our bank account please notify bank. My husband called our bank and told them that we did not know who USA Credit was. He was told that it was an authorization validation of our bank account. Bank asked if we pay our credit cards on line. My husband told them that we paid our only credit card on line. He was told that maybe they were validating that we did own the bank account number they were given.

At that time there were no charges pending from USA Credit and that if they take any money out of our account we were to notify the bank.

Today, 12/13/07, $149.95 was debited from our account. The only way that we can think of as to how they obtained our bank account information is that we applied for a payday loan. I called the 800 number listed for USA Credit on my bank statement and I was told that when I applied for a loan I was automatically enrolled in their shoppers card network. Yes, they would cancel the shoppers card but there would be a $35. Cancellation fee. I told them that I was not paying their $35. Because I never agreed to them enrolling me in a shoppers card network.

She told me that if I called my bank and they somehow managed to stop or credit the $149.95 charge that I would never see my $149.95. I am going to call my bank.
